So huge question. What does it take to survive in the cold areas and dog sled? Lots will say food, water, and a coat. Well they are correct! There is a lot more than you may think, however, you need great strength, a big heavy coat, your sled, and your dogs. Your dogs need to be strong dogs meant for the job with a thick coat to keep themselves warm and you also need to keep them tough. Don't feed them enough to be fat but feed them reasonable portions. Of course you may want to have a sleeping bag in case you cannot make it home in time. Worst case scenario you'll need some signaling gear or a knife. Always have food and water for your dogs; they have needs too.
The Dogs' Survival
You'll know if its too cold because the dogs will shiver or won't come out of their dog houses, in this case it's probably better to wait. Of course their tolarance all depends on age, health, coat thickness, and nutritonal status. Keep them well fed and don't shave their thick coat.
